Supervision is vital to enhancing satisfaction in work and reducing burnout. It is used within Psychology and Social Work fields to allow practitioners to debrief and actively reflect on their work in challenging relational situations.
Pastoral Supervision offers a chance to reflect on complex relationships, either within the leadership team or the congregation and allow blurred lines to become more in focus.
It can help with skill development as well as considering legal and ethical challenges that are part of our workplace and ministry settings.
FAQs
What is the purpose of Supervision?
Our ultimate goal of supervision is to take a look at your work practice and see how
you can do what you are doing better – so that your congregation, your clients or
other ministry workers can benefit. It can highlight burnout or abuse cycles before
they take affect and cause damage to yourself and other.
What should I expect from my first session?
Our first contact is often a phone call where we talk about what supervision can offer
you. It is an opportunity to connect and discuss our expectations and professional
boundaries. This session is free.
What are your fees?
Future sessions are 1 hour duration. Fees are $130 per session.
‘No-show’ appointments are changed as a normal fee, unless in cases of
emergency. Otherwise 24 hours notice of change is acceptable.
Appointments are generally monthly.
How should I prepare for a Supervision Session?
You are encouraged to bring an ‘issue’ to the session to unpack and reflect on.
Something in your workplace that is causing you to lose sleep or ruminate over.
Here are some questions that prompt discussion:
- What has been the most significant event or experience in your workplace this
month? - Do you notice any patterns in your interactions with others – positive or negative?
- Are there areas in your workplace where you feel you could grow?
- Is there conflict in your workplace and how does this affect you?
- What is bringing you joy and satisfaction?
During the session you will be encouraged to reflect more deeply on what is
going on for you and what you are bringing into your work from your homelife,
your background or past experiences. Finding space to examine these things in
a safe environment can be very helpful and allows time to explore alternative
options or ways forward.
Growing in perspective.
